New Mexico Window Blinds & Shades

Backyard Design

Blinds and shades offer you a great way to cut down heat entering your home without spending too much. With many inexpensive options, customization is easy.

If you are a night worker be sure to check into retractable black out shades.

Verticle Blinds, Horizontal Blinds & Retractable Blinds

Verticle blinds work especially well on sliding doors. Since sliding glass doors do not have a window sill, vertical blinds become the best choice and work well with long draperies.

Horizontal blinds and retractable shades allow you excellent lighting control, are compact, and fit almost any window. Retractable shades will vary in opaqueness (opaque meaning no light get's through) to fit into your varied applications. Thicker shades may be used in the bedrooms while thinner materials could be for the living areas. Many people often use these for ornamental use to decorate, but they are also very functional as well.

Shades Put A Barrier Between You And Damaging Sun Rays

The purpose of most window treatments is to keep the sun and heat out. To completely block the sun, consider thermal shades. These shades will reflect heat and light better than non-thermo engineered materials. Heat shields can be found at home department stores for simple, short term application but if you want a real fix be sure to let us know and we will customize the materials to fit your needs.

Many people use common household linens to keep the sun rays out of their house, this may aggrivate your neighbors and possibly get you fined by your HOA if you live in a community that has one. Some HOA's have restrictions against using some colors in the windows to the front of your home. A common, jury rigged black out curtain is made from aluminum foil. It works great at blocking light but won't cut most HOA standards. Likewise, some other forms of shades and blinds may not make code. So, be sure to check.
